Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Johnson actually grew up with a dentist for a dad. He knew from an early age that he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps – in fact, in elementary school, he wrote that he wanted to become a dentist, too! Today, he could not be happier to have made that long-ago goal a reality.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

After completing his undergraduate degree at the College of Charleston, Dr. Johnson pursued his dental doctorate at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine. He has also undergone advanced training in dental implant surgery through the Engel Implant Institute. Dr. Johnson was invited to and now serves as a Clinical Instructor there and teaches other dentists how to place implants. Today, he is currently a member of the American Dental Association, South Carolina Dental Association, and SPEAR Education.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Away from work, Dr. Johnson has a wonderful fiancée named Jennifer and two Miniature Dachshunds, Duggie and Daika. He is also very close with his parents and older brother. In his spare time, you can usually find him on the ocean! He loves fishing, boating, and looking for shark teeth on the beach. He also works out at the gym as often as possible.
